Environmental toxins that release gases in indoor areas are a topic of increasing importance that has resulted in a rising demand for healthy, low-emission building materials.

Certifications such as the EMICODE® provide architects and builders with a guide to the vast market for building materials. CaPlast was already aware of this responsibility at an early stage and sought ways to test its own products and ultimately have them certified. And this was at a time when these tests for vapour barriers as the CaVap 2 had not even been thought of. We also wish to continue to shoulder this responsibility in the future and are therefore collaborating closely with institutes and consultancy firms such as Sentinal House or Emicode. A whole range of CaPlast products have already been awarded the EMICODE® EC 1PLUS quality seal for „very low emissions PLUS“.

According to the GEV ‘Gemeinschaft Emissionskontrollierte Verlegewerkstoffe, Klebstoffe und Bauprodukte e.V.’ (Association for the Control of Emissions in Products for Flooring Installation, Adhesives and Construction Products), this is the premium class that describes the limit of what is technically feasible. The Total Volatile Organic Compound (TVOC) and the Total Semi-Volatile Organic Compounds (TSVOC) are tested. For example, products of class EC 1 plus may have a maximum TVOC of 750 μg / m³ after three days.
